Villas or apartments were always the top choices among newcomers to Javea. However, since the property market recovery in 2015, our estate agency has noticed an increased interest in townhouses.
Traditional Spanish village townhouses are often part of a terrace. Buyers can find these older properties on sale at a relatively low price. But it is wise to proceed with caution, as they often need extensive refurbishing to meet today’s standards, which may be more expensive than buying a property that does not require work.
Having said that, if you see such a townhouse on sale that catches your attention, it is worth researching and doing sums. Old townhouses are usually centrally located within walking distance to all amenities and with more privacy than you can expect when living in an apartment block.
The other townhouse-type for sale in Spain’s resorts are contemporary purpose-built townhouses within a complex. Based on the classic Mediterranean townhouse architectural style, here the comparison ends, as modern townhouses have large spacious rooms, usually a pool and communal gardens, and frequently a small private garden in front of every house.
These communities are ideal for those who like the communal perspective of apartment living while also offering outdoor space and greenery.
